ID Verification

ID Verification asks your guest to photograph their ID and take a selfie, then checks they match. Only the lead guest is checked.

What we check

  • The selfie matches the photo on the ID, using facial recognition.
  • The name on the ID matches the guest’s details.
  • The date of birth on the ID matches the guest’s details.

What your guest needs to do

Truvi sends your guest a link by email or text. They then:

  1. Take a photo of their passport, driving licence or government-issued photo ID card.
  2. Take a selfie.

If the photos don’t match or can’t be read, our guest services team contacts your guest within 30 minutes to help them try again. This support runs 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

To make sure your guest expects the link, add our suggested wording to your listing and booking confirmation email.

To see what your guest sees, click through the tour below. The first 2 steps show the guest’s screens.

What the results mean

The result appears in the booking report.

  • Pending: your guest hasn’t started ID Verification yet.
  • In Review: our guest services team is checking the ID and selfie by hand. Your guest may need to try again.
  • Approved: the ID and selfie matched, either automatically or after review.
  • Rejected: after review, our guest services team found the ID or selfie to be fraudulent or inappropriate.

If you don’t want to host a Rejected guest, cancel the booking in your PMS, booking site or the channel they booked on. Bookings can’t be cancelled in Truvi.
