What do I say to guests who are asking about platform requirements?

Occasionally, guests will raise concerns about how Truvi aligns with booking platform requirements. Here's how we suggest you handle it.

Airbnb

If they are asking about the deposit authorization, we suggest the following wording:

Thank you for raising your concerns. I can assure you that Truvi routinely reviews their policies to ensure compliance with all booking platform guidelines and requirements.

In the case of Airbnb’s policy for collecting fees off-platform, there is an exception for Hosts who manage their listings using an API-connected software (see the guidelines here and here). As Truvi does use an API to manage deposits, it falls under this exception.

If they are asking about the ID verification, we suggest the following wording:

Thank you for raising your concerns. I can assure you that Truvi routinely reviews their policies to ensure compliance with all booking platform guidelines and requirements.

While Airbnb does prohibit collection of a Guest’s ID prior to arrival, there are certain exceptions, including local laws, HOA rules, and building security rules. In this case, reviewing the ID for verification falls under these exceptions. However, I would like to reassure you that the service provider, Truvi, will never use your information for anything unrelated to your booking with the property or sell it to a third party.

Vrbo

Thank you for raising your concerns. I can assure you that Truvi routinely reviews their policies to ensure compliance with all booking platform guidelines and requirements.

While VRBO does offer their own Damage Protection service through the platform, they do not prohibit Hosts from using a different risk management platform. Having considered both options, I find Truvi is a better choice for both myself and my guests when it comes to handling damage deposits and waivers.

Booking.com

Thank you for raising your concerns. I can assure you that Truvi routinely reviews their policies to ensure compliance with all booking platform guidelines and requirements.

While Booking.com does offer their own damage deposit through the platform, they do not prohibit Hosts from using a different risk management platform. Having considered both options, I find Truvi is a better choice for both myself and my guests when it comes to handling damage deposits and waivers.
